Airline News: KLM new World Business Class

Well it ain't exactly fresh news.

And with 14 of their 22 747 already refurbed, a lot of people would have experienced the new business class product already.

But how many would understand the thinking behind the new seats. Their microsite is pretty detailed and gives all credit where they are due. And if you appreciate nuances and philosophy of design, then the WBC really is more than just an upgraded cabin.

Here it is:

Airline News: Garuda CEO Shares Insight into Airline Business

Came across this story by a network in Indonesia.

If you don't understand Bahasa, you might want to know that there are a few things that makes Garuda an interesting airline to watch.

The CEO has a very distinct vision for the carrier.  One that pulls his company together with a streamlined objective that also is very aware of the legalities and specific requirements needed to turn Garuda into a truly international player.

Also interesting in this story is the fact that it was shot in the three class cabins of their new 777-300ER.  With new First Class and Business Class offerings.  Of course, in terms of hardware design, they are pretty much off the shelf that has been seen in other airlines. Still, the branding is worth noting as Garuda aims to up its game to attract premium passengers.

Also worth noting, is the story's coverage of their Garuda Girls. Singapore Airlines crew training and development have often been documented by various news agencies in the past.  So it was very interesting to get an insight on how Garuda was handling their girls and what it takes to be one.  The CEO, for example, places a premium on IQ in conduction with beauty, and made a point to say that they have also hired crew members from countries like China and Japan.

So yes, they are expanding.

The 77W with the new products are headed to London.  Wonder what their prices are like?

Moving forward

There has been a lot of aviation news.

The most recent vein the MH370 disaster.

I have chosen not to add to the spice mix, even though I did share some thoughts on Facebook.

There has been so much noise in the world, with no clear voice.  And it started to look pointless to be part of that cacophony.

Also, it is important to share stories that will really be of some value to those who really love travel and aviation, and by extension because of my other blog, fashion.  And not in a let's-design-livery-for-the-heck-of-it way.

So here goes.  The stories may not be consistently updated, but when they are, know that they have been mindfully selected.  Even if they are for personal archives :-).
